VEGA: Bill, we are at nine thousand two hundred feet and there is a checkpoint behind me. They are stopping every vehicle coming down out of these mountains and checking every occupant against the photographs. They have Highway 82 stopped in both directions and the Leadville roads. We counted eleven agencies in the lot this morning.
HOLT: Any indication they believe the two are still in the area.
VEGA: They are not telling us that. What I can tell you is that the deputy who waved us through was working off a laminated sheet with the photographs, and he held it up next to my producer’s face before he let us by.
